We caught up with Lachy from incspaces Mount Street for our spotlight to find out a little bit more about him and his role in the office space in Manchester. Lachy is the Community Associate for the space at Mount Street which has flexible serviced offices, hot desking and virtual offices.
Who are you, and where are you from?
I’m Lachy from Melbourne, Australia. I moved to the UK at the start of November 2023 because I’d always wanted to experience living in another country since I was younger and thought the UK would be a great place to bring that dream to life.
What did you do before joining incspaces?
Before starting incspaces, I estimated and detailed for a construction company specialising in designing and manufacturing prefabricated wall frames, roofs, and floor trusses for residential homes. After working there for almost five years, I decided to try something new, headed across the world and began exploring Europe, and I found myself on the incspaces Manchester team.
Which centre are you based at, and what do you love about your city?
Mount St, Manchester. Even though it’s on a smaller scale, I love how similar it is to Melbourne. People tend to say London is like Sydney and Manchester is like Melbourne, so it’s like a home away from home.
What’s one thing you enjoy about your centre?
I love the community vibe at Mount St. Hosting events where people connect, share insights, and explore coworking dynamics has been incredibly rewarding. It’s great to witness firsthand how collaboration and networking reshape our professional world.
Tell us one thing your members might not know about you.
Before moving to the UK, I started up my fashion streetwear label manufacturing unisex garments. With the brand being on pause whilst settling in Manchester, I have been networking within the industry and learning about fashion, sustainability, and marketing. This period has been invaluable for gaining insights and understanding trends that I’m eager to apply to our brand once we resume operations.
